I Smell Smoke!!! travelled to Philadelphia, PA the weekend of January 18 to attend the Kansas City Barbecue Society's Annual Awards Banquet. Team members Steve Farrin, Charlie Pini, Carlotta Pini, Doug Pini, Sheila Farrin, Dale Farrin, Pat Brogdon, and Kristen Haskell wore buttons commerating their team member, Mike Gradzinskas, who passed away after the Tempe, Arizona contest held December 5, 2009. The team proudly accepted the trophies presented to them for 3rd place Overall, 2nd place Ribs, 7th place Brisket, and 17th Pork. We miss you, Mike! Rest in peace. |

The first weekend in November, the team competed in the Hog Happenin' event in Shelby, NC, where they placed 15th overall out of 81 teams, with a 1st place Ribs call. The following weekend, the team headed to Buckeye, AZ for the Sun City Festival. Cooking on borrowed equipment(thanks Wine & Swine!), the team placed 7th overall out of 41 teams, with 6th place Chicken and Pork calls. The next weekend, the team headed to the Plant City Pig Jam in Plant City, Florida. The team placed 8th overall, with 8th place Ribs, 9th Pork and 9th Brisket. The team took the Thanksgiving weekend off to spend with family(and besides, there weren't any contests scheduled). The team is currently on route to Tempe, AZ for the last contest of the year(and the last chance for Team of the Year). I Smell Smoke!!! |

I Smell Smoke!!! continued its national tour, competing at the 1st Annual Degaque, held at Talladega Speedway in Alabama Halloween weekend. The team was crowned Grand Champion, after earning 1st Place Ribs and 2nd Place Brisket against 100 teams from all over the country. The finish will surely move ISS!!! up in the KCBS Team of the Year standings. I Smell Smoke!!! |
